Go for Gourmet Golf at Steppes Farm
Peter Morris and his family, owners of Steppes Farm Cottages, have created the ultimate Gourmet packages for foodie golfers. Guests can now enjoy games at celebrated Rolls of Monmouth, Monmouth, Wernddu or Woodlake Park Golf Clubs as part of a break at the picturesque cottages, rounded off by fine dining at the adjacent Stone Mill Restaurant. Flexibility, value for money as well as country charm and high style are key here: two nights’ dinner, B&B including two rounds of golf for two people sharing in one of the stunning cottages will cost as little as £230 per person, or three nights and three rounds of golf are available for £310. At the Stonemill Restaurant, set in a beautifully converted 16th Century barn within the grounds, Michelle DeCloedt and her team will spoil guests: The restaurant has two AA Rosettes and is Michelin-listed, and chef Carl Hammett was recently awarded the title of 2008 South Wales Chef of the Year. Carl’s natural flair is distinctive and undoubtedly refreshing, so guests can expect such wonderful dishes as roasted rump of Welsh lamb, served with Puy lentils, dauphinoise potato and rosemary jus, all of which are sourced from local farms. A morning foraging in the nearby forest with larger than life TV presenter Raoul can also be arranged on request to provide a little variety to the feast of golf on offer, or to entertain a non-golfing member of the party. Foragers’ bounty will then be incorporated into a delicious meal for the party at the restaurant.
Peter Morris explains: “We are just a few miles from some of the best golf courses in the world. Our cottages offer the ideal setting to unwind after a challenging game and the Stone Mill will reward guests with a delectable dinner later on.”
Steppes Farm has six, four-star cottages, all architect-designed. They can accommodate between three and six people. The pretty cottages, once working farm buildings, are grouped around the original farmhouse and set in 4 acres of landscaped grounds, commanding breathtaking panoramic views of the Monmouthshire countryside.
The family really has listened to what their customers expect to get from the ideal golf break: the perfect relaxed holiday accommodation with friendly, welcoming service and great food on site.
The family has just launched a new website, www.monmouthcottages.co.uk, designed by Monmouth Websites to show off Steppes Farm’s wonderful setting. There customers will find beautiful photographs, aerial views and virtual video tours, and great information to help them plan the ideal golfing break in Monmouthshire.
