Let’s be honest. Being a Welsh actor living in Los Angeles does have its compensations. But I still miss Wales. You forget how green it is.

No wonder Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller fell in love with Newquay when we filmed The Edge of Love there. The locals were pretty keen on them, too.

Thanks to the Ryder Cup, my American friends now know a lot more about Wales. I tell them: bring your cameras, take pictures of our beautiful vistas, play some of our world-class courses. And I remind them that we enjoyed their company during the Ryder Cup – and that they returned home with great memories, even though they weren’t accompanied by the Cup.
