Being a greenkeeper is a great job if you like being out in the fresh air. It’s even better if you’re preparing for The 2010 Ryder Cup.
It helps if you have a sadistic streak, mind. Today we’re making the bunkers that bit steeper. Mustn’t make it too easy for the Americans.
We usually start work at first light with just otters and geese for company. But come October there’ll be 45,000 spectators out on the course. Hope they notice how nicely we’ve cut the grass.
