Wales’s newest city is a hub of growth and regeneration, with an impressive waterfront redevelopment scheme. The Riverfront Theatre and Arts Centre already shares the waterfront with the iconic Newport City Footbridge and will be joined by a new city campus for the University of Wales, Newport, which will open its doors to students in autumn 2010. Sports fans might like to visit the Newport International Sports Village, which boasts the Wales National Velodrome and a competition standard swimming pool. Standing at the gateway to Wales, the city is also an ideal base to explore the natural beauty of the Wye Valley and Vale of Usk, the Brecon Beacons and the South Wales Valleys.
